Fly Fishing in the Florida Keys is one of the most challenging and rewarding places I have ever fished. On any given day, we will seek the 3 trophy species of the flats; Tarpon, Permit, and Bone Fish. There truly isn’t a more exhilarating feeling than connecting with one of these fish on the fly. They have been known to drive a person crazy, and create an obsessive love at the same time. There is something special about sight fishing with a fly. It happens at the first moment you observe a fish moving, or feeding across a flat. Whether, its the tall tail of a permit above the water, or a tarpon porpoising as they move calmly through the water, the first time you see these fish moving in their natural environment, undisturbed and unaware of an angler’s presence, you become overwhelmed with a sense that can only be described as magic. This peaceful, and tactical moment is then interrupted when the connection is made; Pure Chaos. The bent rod, and screaming drag will surely become a regular itch you’ll have to scratch.
