Key Limes… the fruit of the Keys and the Pie of the State of Florida. We will stroll thru time and places as we not only sample, but learn the history of the fruit and how it came to the keys and be crucial to sailors health. Then the Cubans use it with other ingredients for a tasty treat and it will get turned into a formal recipe and before you know it Borden’s food is trying to take credit for creating a pie that is much loved in Key West and around the world. What is the best? We will try some pie with and without meringue. Do you want extra tart or flavored? Tired of pie how about some gelato and ice cream. Maybe some fudge to try as well. Enough food — get ready for some limeade and if you are over 21 we do have an adult beverage option. Get ready to walk and have comfy shoes with water and your phone/ camera charged up. Clothes for tropics is highly encouraged. Maybe pants that have an elastic waistband (lol). The history and lore of this treat is one that you will enjoy as much as what you get to sample.

December 10, 2025 at 2:53 pmThe Key Lime Experience with Whiskey Rick was a definite highlight of our recent Key West trip. Every stop felt like we were dropping in on old friends. And Whiskey Rick carried that same laid back, fun-loving vibe throughout the entire tour, conversing and sharing local folklore and tidbits along the entire tour. We really felt connected to the local culture throughout the whole experience.
We can’t wait to get back and see what Whiskey Rick can arrange for even more sampling of the local culture. A whiskey pub crawl? Maybe a fun sandbar excursion? Perhaps he can curate an experience for us for some adult getaway time!
Looking forward to it all ready!

December 7, 2025 at 8:56 pmWe visited Key West in January 2024 for the ABV Network Key West Whiskey Fesitival. Whiskey Rick was our tour guide all across the Key. The Key Lime Pie Tour was hands down our favorite during our visit. The way Whiskey Rick curated the visits with each of the businesses played well together and provided is with an amazing experience of the different recipes that are available. We would not have been able to do this on our own, as the secret sauce was the coordination and collaboration between Whiskey Rick and all the businesses we visited. When you think “Local”, THIS IS IT! There are other options around, yet those tend to not be rooted in the Key West Community and are just stops into the businesses. What’s different with this tour, is you not only get to enjoy a slice of Key Lime Pie, you get to spend time with the owners/bakers like you are family. We are very much looking forward to doing this tour again with Whiskey Rick as he has the pulse of Key West….you will not be disappointed. Go and book this tour if you can find the time.
